Generally, you can fly at the field at anytime. But there are some restrictions due to our contract with the Town of Londonderry and especially to give our neighbors the respect they deserve. Please be aware that this is a former EPA superfund site which is still under EPA control and as such, we have special procedures regarding the use of any fuel which must be followed at all times. There shall be no disposal of any type of trash no matter how small, nor the spilling of fuel of any type on the site. We remind you to refrain from coming in contact with the ground or surface water as the EPA is still monitoring Arsenic levels in the area. Please refer to the EPA web site www.epa.gov/region01/superfund/ for more information on the ‘Auburn Road Landfill’ site.We allow internal combustion engines to be run from 10am until Sunset. During other times gliders and quiet electric motors are allowed. Engines must have a muffler. All aircraft must adhere to 98 dBA at 9 feet maximum sound level output. All aircraft without exception must be measured to be sure they conform to this maximum sound level before they are operated at the Auburn Road flying site. Please refer to our Sound Compliance Committee document for more information. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5pm until dark students have flying priority. This means that any student is allowed to reserve a frequency and use the runway and flight stations. Others must obtain permission from the on site flight instructors unless there are no students willing to fly. On Friday evenings, rotary wing aircraft (helicopters, etc.) have flying priority over fixed wing aircraft. At all other times, everyone has equal priority and must share the use of the frequencies, the four flying stations (we allow a maximum of four aircraft to be flying at one time) and the runway. |
