The New Hampshire Flying Tigers Radio Control Club was founded and chartered by the AMA in the early 1970's.

The club's name was inspired by the courageous American Volunteer Group who went to China in August of 1941 under the command of Major Claire Lee Chennault prior to the United States entering World War II. They flew Curtiss P-40B Warhawks and are probably best remembered by the shark's mouth that was painted on the nose of the aircraft.

The club maintains a membership averaging between 50 and 80 members which includes men and women of all ages. Our members fly sport models, scale models, gliders and helicopters.

We maintain a flying site with a well groomed model airfield conveniently located behind the industrial park in Derry, New Hampshire. We take a lot of pride in our Flight Training Program, people come from miles away to learn to fly with us!

The NH Flying Tigers is a chartered club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA - charter number 1283), which is a national organization established to represent modelers best interests, establish uniform rules and guidelines for modelers, and provide liability insurance for clubs and individual modelers. All members of the NH Flying Tigers must also maintain a current membership with the AMA

The New Hampshire Flying Tigers RC Club is a State of New Hampshire nonprofit corporation.

Our Flying Field

B Street Field

1 B St
Derry, NH 03038

The New Hampshire Flying Tiger's B-Street flying site runway (located at latitude N 42.89596, longitude W 71.34009) is about 600 feet long, and about 65 feet wide. It is a combination grass and fabric runway, which is rolled smooth each year and always kept cut very short.

A pilot must stand at one of the four pilot stations while flying his aircraft. There are taxiways separated by taller grass between the pit area and the runway proper.

At our field, we have a nice covered shelter with picnic tables which is great for relaxing and hangar flying. We also have a gas barbecue grill so you don't have to eat your lunch cold. You'll make a lot of friends if you always bring extra burgers (or chicken) with you!

You must be an AMA and Flying Tiger's club member to fly at our field. If you would like to fly as a guest at our field, you must be a member of the AMA and you also must be accompanied by a Flying Tiger's member. Note that we have limit of three visits to local guests flying at our field unless you are flying under our guest program. Don't worry, if you are here on vacation or holiday from a distant area, you are welcome to fly with us without becoming a member! Please see one of the officers to discuss your visit with us before flying.

Running of engines is limited to 10 AM to sunset Monday through Saturdays and 12PM to sunset on Sundays. All engines must have a muffler. Note that quiet electric motor driven aircraft and gliders can be flown at any time. For more information on this, please refer to our flight schedule.
